Prizes

2 tracks, 1 hackathon

Both tracks are heavily encouraged to use AWS services in their project

AWS Track: AWS-Powered AI for Scalable Solutions

Open to all!

Create a full product that could be sold to companies with potential costs and benefits accounted for using AWS services. Must use AWS services in some way. ALL types of projects are encouraged!

1st Place: $2000 | 2nd Place: $1000

A10 Track: Agentic Identity OR Agent Harness

Open to Juniors, Seniors, and Grad Students *

Prompt 1: Agentic Identity — Identify, Authorize, and Revoke Agents

Build an identity layer using AAuth for agent authorization, SPIFFE/SPIRE for workload identity, and ID-JAG-based MCP OAuth for enterprise-controlled access. With ID-JAG, the client obtains a grant from the enterprise identity provider and exchanges it for an MCP access token. Extend these controls to desktop and CLI agents, enforce tool permissions, track actions, and revoke access through the gateway.

Demo: Authenticate an agent, allow selected MCP tools, then revoke access mid-task and block subsequent requests.

Prompt 2: Agent Harness — Control Desktop and CLI Agent Traffic

Build a control layer around supported desktop apps and CLI tools such as Claude Code. Route model and MCP requests through a gateway to attach agent identity, monitor traffic, enforce policies, and apply usage limits. Include task recovery and a kill switch to block further requests and stop locally managed agent processes.

Demo: Launch a CLI agent, display its traffic, block a disallowed action, and stop the run.

1st Place: $3000 + Fast Track Interviews | 2nd Place: $1500 + Fast Track Interviews

Frequently Asked Questions

What's a Hackathon?

A hackathon is an opportunity when you and your team come together to construct a cool and inventive project in 24 hours!

How big can my team be?

We require all teams to be comprised of 2-6 people. This is a great way for you to work with others, and learn about the design process.

What if I don't have a team?

No problem! We will help connect you with other students who are also looking for teammates before and during the event.

Who can attend?

All Undergrad and Graduate students attending Santa Clara University are welcome, regardless of major. Students of all levels are encouraged to participate!

I've never been to a Hackathon!

No worries! We have a team of mentors to help you along the way. Previous project experience will be helpful.

Any other questions?

Feel free to email us at acm@scu.edu if you have any questions or concerns!

Track Frequently Asked Questions

Should I use AWS services if I'm in the A10 track?

ALL teams are encouraged to use AWS services to create their projects. A10 will not provide services, and instead provides a problem statement for you to solve though the A10 track.

What if I have a mixed-grade team?

Freshmen and Sophomores may be elligible for the A10 track in a primarily Upperclassmen team, however they will NOT recieve an interview from A10. Instead, their information will be kept by A10 for future reference in applications.
